Haldane and Modern British Higher Education Reform: A Historical Investigation Centered on His Educational Practice Activities

  • 摘要: 作为20世纪初英国杰出的政治家,霍尔丹参与了英格兰、爱尔兰、威尔士等地的高等教育改革。在借鉴德国大学模式的基础之上,他主张改革教考分离的高等教育模式,倡导教学与科研相结合的大学教育模式。霍尔丹的教育家身份虽不能与西方教育史上著名教育家相媲美,但他对近代英国高等教育改革与发展的贡献是不可磨灭的:一方面表现为政治性的,他两次参与伦敦大学改革,促进了《1898年伦敦大学法》《1926年伦敦大学法》的颁布,帮助城市学院获得合法性的大学地位,为爱尔兰、威尔士的高等教育发展指明了方向;另一方面表现为学术性的,霍尔丹的思想深受德国古典哲学的影响,他在大学的本质、城市大学的理念、技术教育等方面都发表过真知灼见,丰富了近代英国高等教育的思想宝库。
