Political economist Wang Yanan has taught at Sun Yat-Sen University twice time for over four years. The first time is the Pingshi period:he arrived in September 1940 and left school in November 1944, a rather long period; during this period, he went to Chongqing to meet Chiang Kai-shek in the summer of 1941 and had two long dialogues with Joseph Needham from the end of April to the beginning of May 1944. The second time is the Shipai period:In the summer of 1946, he went back to school for a short-term teaching. During his teaching at Sun Yat-sen University, Wang Yanan adhered to the academic philosophy of "in the position of the examinee" and completed his own transformation of studying economics from a Chinese standpoint with Original Insights of Chinese Economics. "Needham Dialogues" gave birth to the prototype of Research on Chinese Bureaucracy, which has made outstanding contributions to the development of modern Chinese culture.
